Baby Activity Toys
Mothers, what is the one toy your baby couldnt do without?
My 7 month old baby is dissatisfied with her bouncer, rolling around, her toys, etc. I have to play with her all day long and I need something that will make her happy on her own for at least 20 minutes so I can get on with the housework! I’ve tried putting her in a carrier on my back but she hates it! Can you recommend any great toys/activities? Thanks!
Go outside with her, have a nice walk and come home and sit and play with any toy (balls work well) for 10 minutes, then let her know you are going to get up and do the dishes.
This is called play and walk away.
Take away 75% of her toys for 3 weeks and reintroduce each toy slowly. She might find new ways of playing with them.
Keep some music on, and talk to her while you clean, and keep her in sight.
Try a sling or front carrier, she might like it (usually they do protest the first few times, but once they are close to your heart and YOU are calm they will calm).
Best wishes

Darts for Children

Oftentimes, it can be difficult distinguishing hyperactivity in children and normal active behavior. Is the child who is darting around the house and never stopping a hyperactive child, or just a normal child?
To differentiate between the two, one must understand that it is the quality and quantity of the movements of the child that define what is hyperactivity in children and what is normal active behavior. When observing the child, are the movements of the child purposeful or random? Hyperactive children tend to be restless, fidget a great deal, run into things, over objects and/or people, and climb up anything they can. The hyperactive child just never seems to stop and appears they are moving strictly to move and let loose.
As a parent of a hyperactive child, this can be utterly exhausting! You’ll find you are chasing your child in order to save your home or to save your child from injury. As a parent, you want to help your hyperactive child direct their energy in constructive ways and at appropriate times. It certainly can be a challenge to parent hyperactive children but there are some methods that can help you and your child in the journey. Below are some tips that can help you as you work on disciplining your hyperactive child.
Hyperactivity in Children Tip #1: Teach Relaxation Techniques
While hyperactive children love to be active, it is healthy that they learn how to relax. Relaxation is good for both the mind and the body and can teach your child self-control. Work on sitting still with your child, teaching them to breathe deeply, close his or her eyes, and imagine a peaceful setting. It can sometimes help to massage their shoulders and hands in order to encourage relaxation, as well as play peaceful music.
Hyperactivity in Children Tip #2: Structure
Hyperactive children require structure in their environment. Make sure to stick to a schedule and provide boundaries for your child.
Hyperactivity in Children Tip #3: Throw out the phrase, “Time Out”
The concept is the same, but the name has changed. Use terms such as “quiet time” or “reflective time” that encourages stillness and thought.
Hyperactivity in Children Tip #4: Body Awareness
Teaching your child to be aware of their body and their space will help them to not impose on anothers space or person.
Hyperactivity in Children Tip #5: Listening
Hyperactivity in children can also show up verbally! If your child talks non-stop, teach them the importance of listening to other people and taking turns in the dialogue.
Hyperactivity in Children Tip #6: Supervision
Hyperactive children require a great deal of parental supervision and connectedness. A great deal of the day is spent redirecting your child’s behavior and telling them to “stop”. Make sure to block out some time each and every day where you and your child can spend some quality time together enjoying each others company. This is a great time to demonstrate stillness and model positive behavior while enjoying spending time together.

Darts Games

The most common dart board design is that of a clock which is circular in shape, has a circle inscribed on it with twenty segments with the numbers one to twenty mentioned on them in a random fashion which actually has an underlying pattern. The bull’s eye is the small black circle in the centre.
The two most common games are 501 and 301.In 501 a player starts with 501 points and has to reduce it to zero. Each player has to throw three darts and whatever he scores is deducted from the initial 501 points. The bull’s eye fetches 50 points, the outer rings 25 each etc. The player who first achieves the zero point is the winner. However the game can end only with a throw that lands in the double or bulls eye.301 is also played in the same way except that it starts with 301 points instead of 501.Another popular dart game is “Around the Clock”. Here, each player throws 3 darts and has to throw a dart in every segment beginning right from 1 to 20 and has to finish with the 25 and bull’s-eye. Players must start with 1 and cannot move to the next number till such time a dart has been thrown at the next target .The first player who hits all the targets and finally reaches the bull’s-eye wins the game.
Another common game is the cricket where two players toss a coin to see who would bat and who would be bowling. The batting player starts and tries at all turns scoring as many points as possible. The standard 501 scoring system is used. When the batting player scores more than 40 points in one go, the number of points more than 40 is added to the player’s score. Less than 40 the batting player scores nothing. The opposing player is considered to be the bowler and this player only aims the bull’s-eye. The bowler gets 2 wickets if he hits the bull’s-eye and 1 wicket for the 25 scorer ring. Players take turns until the bowling player throws a dart that scores the 10th wicket. After that the roles are interchanged and the other player has an innings of batting to do. This game ends when both players have played two innings each and the player with the higher score wins the match.

Darts

You could really be good at throwing darts. You could have fantastic scores. It really wouldn’t matter though if your darts keep bouncing off the dartboard, if they won’t stick. After all, if they won’t stick, what’s the use, right?
Sharpening or rounding darts for sport or for competition is a good skill to develop, especially if you’re a player. The dart points aren’t actually meant to be sharp, even though they may be when you first buy them. Who woulda’ thought? Sharp dart points ruin a dartboard by nicking the wires, permanently damaging them. Interestingly, they will cause the darts to bounce quite regularly off the dartboard. Not a good thing at all. And the sharp points won’t stay sharp very long. The points will often bend or roll over upon impact.
Many times a burr will form on a sharp pointed dart after sticking. This very small, very thin wire coming off the tip will cause dartboard fibers to be wrenched free when you’re pulling them off the board. Burrs are the enemy of dartboards. To check for a burr, hold the dart with the tip up. Run a fingernail up the side of the point. If there is a burr, your fingernail will catch on it. Should this happen, a dart sharpener, or sandpaper, can easily be used to remove the burr. Remember that it is a fingernail and not a finger tip to use. A burr is a hell of a splinter to have to remove.
So if you don’t want it sharp, then what? Straight up, the point of a dart should be rounded. Just like a ballpoint pen. Rounded tips do not damage a dartboard. They will slide past the wires instead of cutting them. There is no cleaving and, thus no burr will form. Interestingly, rounded-tip darts will stick to a dartboard much more than will sharp-tip darts. How about that? Don’t fight it. That’s just how it goes. And when you loosen the dart, dartboard fibers will not be pulled free. Even better.
Some dart players believe that a dart point should not be sharp or round. They truly think that darts need no maintenance whatever. Just play on! This is not good. Oh, no. An unmaintained dart tip will not stay round, it will become flat. Once your dart tip has become flattened, it’ll bounce right off the dartboard no matter where it lands. And because flat tips compress dartboard fibers upon impact, repeated use will ruin the dartboard, making it very difficult for darts to stick at all.
When the point of a dart begins to flatten, we only want to sharpen the tip enough to round it for use. There are hollow, cylindrical dart sharpening stones that may be used to sharpen the dart tip. These concave stones are fantastic sharpeners for dars. Small, flat rectangular sharpening stones for darts are also available. If all else is unavailable, use very coarse sandpaper. Simply wrap the sandpaper around the tip, pinch it firmly and rotate the tip until the dart becomes sharp.
Now that the tip is sharp, you’ll want to round it. Place the tip down on a sharpening stone or sand paper as though it were standing on end. Slowly spin the dart in place until the tip dulls just a little. Now tip the dart downward ever so slightly and spin it again just a handful of times. And now you’re done. If you don’t trust yourself to hold the dart still while spinning it, put the stone and dartor your hand holding the dartflush against a wall, or immobile solid structure, and then round the dart.
If your darts are dirty, clean them with water and a soft soap. Thoroughly dry them. Now they can be stored without worry of rust. But, if they do become rusty, sandpaper will easily do the trick. Lubricate the points with oil, wipe them as dry as possible and then store them. If cared for consistently, your darts, and not the flights, could last a lifetime.
Remember to keep your darts rounded. Definitely not sharp and surely not flat. It’ll only take a couple of minutes of your time to keep them in their best condition. It may improve your scoring and will surely lengthen the life of your dartboard. Good luck!

Dart Pics

With the stock market performing so poorly this year, many people who have no experience are getting interested in learning about stocks. They have probably heard that is good to buy stocks when they are low and sell them when they are high. With all the bad news of the stock market going down seemingly day after day, these beginners are now becoming interested in getting involved.
Once a beginner learns how to buy a stock, the next step is to try to figure out what stocks to buy. Where does one get that kind of information or opinion? You can get stock pics almost everywhere including magazines, TV shows, radio shows, The Internet and probably many other places as well. One thing is for sure, there is no shortage of opinions.
If you watch the financial TV shows, you will often see segments with the top analysts or “experts” where they give their stock tips. These experts might be asked to analyze certain stocks or to give their own stock pics. It seems to me that most of the time these so called stock market gurus are positive about most stocks. There are exeptions but rarely do you find an analyst come on and say that he would not be buying any stock and that now is not the time to invest.
These stock analysts are often the representatives for their company that the public sees and so they don’t want to be negative. It is so much harder to drum up business with a negative outlook than it is if you have a positive rosy outlook. It seems to me that these analysts are told to go out there and paint the most positive picture you can about the market. For example, “the market might be bad right now but it will turn around and these are the stocks you want to own when it does”.
Learning how to do some of your own research and not listen exclusively to the experts is perhaps the hardest part of investing. If you are going to do things right, you do need to learn how to form your own opinions and research stocks on your own. If you buy every stock a guru says is a winner, you will soon find that they aren’t right much more than someone who picks stocks by throwing darts.
If you are a beginner looking to buy stocks and learn, it is wise advice to proceed slowly and not believe everything you hear. These stock analysts are professional salesman and can make the worst stock in the world look like a screaming buy. It is your money and not theirs so be careful with it.
Kids Darts

Ok, so you have the Fathers Day gift, now what? Well why not incorporate some simple sports or hobby themed related items to your gift wrapping. In order words, try adding layers of interest to what would normally be considered a traditional gift wrapped box with a bow. This project will demonstrate how easily anyone can spice up a plain wrapped gift for Fathers Day that your loved one is sure to enjoy.
This project is all about the details. Not only are you creating visual interest, your also something that your one love can use after the gift is unwrapped.
You will need the following supplies:
- Sports or hobby related gift wrapping paper – We chose one that has an antiqued look to it.
- 1 small bungee cord – Use a medium or large bungee cord for larger boxes or packages. Bungee cords come in a variety of colors and sizes. Coordinate the color of your bungee cord with the colors in your wrapping paper.
- 1 name tag – Store bought or you can make your own.
- Hole puncher
- Ribbon or cording – Choose a color that matches the colors in your gift wrapping.
- 1 decorative sports related item. Choose items that can be easily attached to the end of your bungee cord. You can purchase one at a party supply or craft store. Another idea would be to look at what you have in the garage or in the house. For example, your husband loves to play darts. You could buy a package of darts and attach one of them to the bungee cord.
- Scotch tape
- Scissors
- Sharpie pen
Steps 1 – Begin by measuring and cutting your themed wrapping paper. You can also use plain colored wrapping paper and stamp a sports or hobby related theme pattern on to your paper using different colored ink. In attempt to keep this project simple, I opted for a decorative single sheet store bought wrapping paper.
Step 2 – Wrap paper and secure with scotch tape.
Step 3 – Using your hole puncher, punch a hole out on the top of the name tag and address card using your sharpie pen. Set name tag aside.
Step 4 – Wrap bungee cord around the center of your box or package hooking the ends together.
Step 5 – Thread your ribbon or cording through the opening of your name tag and attach to the bungee hooks, and tie the ribbon at the back of the hook.
Step 6 – Attach a decorative theme related item to the other bungee cord hook by securing with ribbon or cording. Take care not to cover too much of the design of your sports or hobby related wrapping paper.

How do you play the baseball game on the back of a dartboard?
I bought a dartboard and on the back there is a game of baseball on it. I read through the instructions, and all it says about the baseball game is that it has the same rules of the real game. I know a lot about real baseball, but can’t seem to figure out how to apply all of that to the dart game. Can someone give me some insight as to how to play it on darts?
its been a long time since i played dart baseball…you just throw the dart and you score it as what the dart hit..
