With all the recalls for toys made in China, it`s important for parents to consider and eco-friendly or “green” alternative for buying toys. Green products in general are items that considered to be natural and/or organic – made of natural materials that rae also biodegradable and recyclable. It`s also a good idea to look for toys that don`t use toxic dyes or any lead. This is especially important because infants and young children tend to put alot of objects in their mouths, particularly when they are teething.

What I found when doing research on this topic is that there are many toy designers and toy manufacturers that now take all this into consideration. They not only consider the eco-friendliness of a toy, there`s also a concern about durability, eliminating sharp edges, and not designing toys that have small parts that can fall off and be easily swallowed. So stuffed animal toys with glass or button eyes are out. Cloth and soft toys that are washable are now much more popular.

Now for the fun stuff. Toy makers design their products according to age group. For newborns and infants, there`s alot of mobiles that show brightly colored bold geometric shapes and patterns that work to a baby`s ability to focus their eyesight. Some play soothing music – even Mozart and Beethovan. Lots of toys fall into the activity or educational categories to keep the munchkins busy and entertained. Again, these are designed according to age group and dexterity levels. Many of these toys while being fun are also adorable. They`re soft, safe, and washable too. Some of the bath toys play music, light up, and spin around. How fun is that? For a busy and full time working parent, bath time might be one of the few times where you get to spend quality time with your little ones. You`re there anyway, so it might as well be fun and entertaining. You can use the tub time to play with your kids with these wonderfully designed activity toys, and you know what? Clorox Anywhere spray is the BEST, it’s color-free(won’t bleach anything) , and is completely safe to use around kids, and pets. I use it on everything, and it’s really nice to just give a quick spray down on my kid’s toys, especially their little play food that is ALWAYS in the mouth. I clean them about once every few weeks.

What are the best baby toys?

I have a 6 month old baby boy and am starting to look more at toys, since he is becoming more interested in them. There are so many toys on the market and every one I see, I think “Oh, how cute…I’d love to get that!” Of course, I can’t afford tons of toys for my son, nor would I want to get him every toy imaginable. So, my question is…What have you found to be the best toys for children ages 0-2? I love fun toys that are also learning tools, and toys that will last him a while would also be a plus!

I am a speech therapist and we always recommend toys that make noise. Ones that name colors or letters and such are really good b/c they also help them learn. Books that read or make noise are really good also. Toys that sing nursery rhymes are also great b/c with the repetition kids learn the songs.

Babies r us, The brand is “Especially for babies.” And the product is The All In One Healthcare kit. I hope you find it. My dauther uses the bunny from publix with the rubber hands and this monkey ring from Sassy. She doesnt even look twice at that pretzel…I take it back after I wrote this I saw her playing with it and she fell asleep with it in her hands.

Baby like things that are bright colorful and make noise… What you can buy your baby is: a new thing for keyboards. You put it on the computers keyboard, and allow baby to press it. Its for babys 9 months and up. you can check your local babies r us, or k mart, target and stores such as that. They have plenty of nice toys for babys. Babys at this age are fasinated with things that make noise and are bright in color.
Dont worry about getting the most expensive gifts because your child will not remember her first x mas any ways. so try to take it easy and get her things to allow her ot have fun.

Educational toys are fun for babies and provide another tool to stimulate learning and brain development in your infant. There are many ways to teach a child and tens of thousands of educational toys on the market to help parents in the endeavor. The challenge for parents, child care providers and educators is to choose from the vast array of educational toys available in a way that creates a balance of learning techniques, is age appropriate, and most of all fun. This article will provide basic facts about; how babies learn, types of educational toys available and examples of each.

How Babies Learn

It is quite surprising the rate at which babies learn and develop. Learning begins in the womb and continues throughout childhood. In early life how a child learns centers largely around the relationship with the parents. At least until the child starts preschool, the job of stimulating and satisfying baby’s desire to learn falls primarily to the parents.

While babies respond to their parent’s voice there are many other sounds they find interesting. When parents are choosing educational toys for babies they should look for toys that have sound, colors that are bright and contrasted like red, black and white, and have interesting textures that babies like to touch.

Sounds

Babies’ respond to sound and some of the best educational toys include rattles and musical toys. Soothing music such as lullabies is usually best. Auditory and musical toys are known to stimulate logical thinking and imagery in babies and in adults for that matter.

How concerned should you be bringing your baby to playdates where all the kids share toys?

and put the toys in their mouths? i dont want to be over paranoid and shelter him but I’m just grossed out. and how do you handle other kids taking your babies toys..and dont want to seem selfish but I’m afraid I won’t see them again

This is kind of a tough question since you definitely don’t want to offend the other parent(s), with whom you setup the playdates with.

I’m not sure about just how bad it is bacteria-wise, but the best thing I can say is to clean the toys before & after use.

Try bringing toys that aren’t furry or soft, as these things would probably collect more saliva and schmutz on them.

Perhaps plastic toys would help?
